Valencia Carbon is a Spanish brand producing Japanese-style kitchen knives that are finished and assembled in Spain. The brand crafts knives from billets of Japanese steel that are then fitted with custom handles for the customer.
As a brand based in Valencia, Spain, it was important to show a connections to the Valencian Community and the long and rich history of Spanish metal crafts from provinces like Toledo. The shape used for this mark is a cross section of the iconic Valencia orange rendered in black with crude lines intended to remind customers of the heavy and semi-rustic feeling and style of medieval Spanish wrought iron. In further acknowledgement of the company's Spanish origins, knife handles that are fitted with a locking pin have a steel bull's head set into the handle. Finally, as a nod to the Japanese styling of the cutlery, each knife includes literature in the form of a pre-folded origami booklet.
